Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureB-
The Patriots let Sawyer fall into their laps, and walked away with a D. The Patriots lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The Sawyer steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In pick 3 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in slot 35 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick67
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at No. 67 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick68
Rnd3
Jack Sawyer
They barely believed it either: Jack Sawyer still on the board at pick No. 68. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99
Rnd4
Jason Henderson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jason Henderson in the Round 4 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick100
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
No edge and no loss on Malachi Moore in the 100th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108
Rnd4
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in No. 108 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick131
Rnd5
Aireontae Ersery
They did well to land Aireontae Ersery in the 131st overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick195
Rnd7
Noah Daniels
They paid sticker price for Noah Daniels in slot 195, and that is fine. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
