The Patriots answered their biggest question with McCarthy. Grade: B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Getting McGlothern where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Adding Asante Samuel Jr. by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
