Call it larceny. Danny Stutsman sat on the board until the 165th overall pick, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice.

Reaching for Mertz left real value on the table behind him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
