When a board-topper like Riley Leonard slides to slot 161, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Scott Jr. lower, and that gap is the story.

The Amari Cooper pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
