The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: A.J. Haulcy, the No. 63 name on the board, sitting there at pick 94 like a gift left on the doorstep.

It is not that Styles is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
