The Patriots let Mondon Jr. fall and pounced. Final grade: D-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Patriots did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Mondon Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
