Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureA
Simon should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B+. Thirty-one other rooms let Cody Simon slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at Round 7, Pick 7. Highway robbery. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
Igbinosun has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Zy Alexander
They reached a country mile for Zy Alexander at pick No. 39, and the board is aghast. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick60
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Somehow Omarion Hampton was still sitting there in the 60th overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick61
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
They paid sticker price for Alfred Collins in pick 61, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in Round 3, Pick 6 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick80
Rnd3
Jack Bech
A conviction pick on Jack Bech at slot 80 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick106
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
They let Danny Stutsman come to them and pounced at the 106th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick141
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in No. 141 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick221
Rnd7
Cody Simon
Cody Simon in the 221st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick223
Rnd7
Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to pick No. 223, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick235
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
They talked themselves into Thor Griffith at Round 7, Pick 21, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
