The Patriots ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

If Williams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

On value alone, Barham makes the weekend a net positive. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
