The steal of the weekend belongs to the Panthers and Monheim: D. Somebody took the Panthers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Monheim where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the 1st overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick2
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In No. 2 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick16
Rnd1
Harold Perkins Jr.
In pick 16 they get the heartbeat of the defense. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick20
Rnd1
Quinshon Judkins
In slot 20 they get an every-down engine for the run game. A real need, handled.
Pick58
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
A straight-up fair deal on Tate Ratledge at Round 2, Pick 26, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick161
Rnd6
Jonah Monheim
They barely believed it either: Jonah Monheim still on the board at the 161st pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
