Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Panthers spent the 83rd pick on Malachi Lawrence, a name most had 63 spots down the list. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Hall that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
