FutureB-
Larceny in the 229th pick lands the Panthers a B+, Gordon II and all. You could see the war room lean forward. Ollie Gordon II at slot 229 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The Kroeger pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the 20th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick31
Rnd1
Shavon Revel Jr.
In slot 31 they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick74
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at pick 74 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick110
Rnd4
Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter in No. 110 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick113
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 12 is lovely value for the safety. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick141
Rnd5
Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald at pick No. 141 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick207
Rnd6
Kai Kroeger
They reached into another round for Kai Kroeger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick229
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in the 229th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
