Hart should have been long gone. The Panthers pounced, and earned a D.

The phones were a trap the Panthers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Hart pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 JC Latham
In slot 16 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in No. 33, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Sainristil. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick101 Rnd4 Audric Estime
They did well to land Audric Estime in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick168 Rnd5 Cam Hart
Cam Hart in pick No. 168 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick180 Rnd6 Jaylin Simpson
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 5 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick222 Rnd7 Steele Chambers
Steele Chambers at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
