Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB FutureB
The Panthers let Simpson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

When a board-topper like Jaylin Simpson slides to Round 5, Pick 32, you do not overthink it, and the Panthers did not.

Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Ceaser reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey at No. 33 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ja'Tavion Sanders
Value with a capital V on Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 70th pick, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick89 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at pick 89 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick101 Rnd4 Nelson Ceaser
They jumped the gun on Nelson Ceaser, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick168 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Taking Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 168 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick180 Rnd6 Grayson Murphy
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Grayson Murphy at slot 180 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick222 Rnd7 Darius Muasau
Darius Muasau in the 222nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
