Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Panthers lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

Somebody took the Panthers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Put together, it is a D.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. They are betting Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Cooper Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A clean, defensible pick in No. 33 with a little surplus value in Jackson Powers-Johnson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick73 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at slot 73, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick127 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in the 127th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick141 Rnd5 Kalen King
By-the-book stuff, Kalen King at Round 5, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick165 Rnd5 Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader in pick 165 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick180 Rnd6 Layden Robinson
Nothing to complain about; Layden Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick243 Rnd7 Ryan Cooper Jr.
Ryan Cooper Jr. is a better player than pick No. 243 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
