The war room fell hard for Patrick Payton, and it showed at pick 198: 50 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. No fireworks, but a solid B.

That Allen pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
