The steal of the weekend belongs to the Panthers and Ransom: B+. The Panthers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Lathan Ransom, the No. 110 name on the board, in pick 164. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Every board in the league had Hamilton lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
No edge and no loss on JT Tuimoloau in slot 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick59
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A safety of that caliber at the 59th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick74
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
By-the-book stuff, Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 74 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick110
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in No. 110 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick136
Rnd4
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in the 136th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in pick No. 141 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick147
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at the 147th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick164
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
They barely believed it either: Lathan Ransom still on the board at pick No. 164. It fills a real need, too.
Pick190
Rnd6
Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick229
Rnd7
Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at pick 229 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
