The Panthers cashed the board's mistake on Ward: A-.

Somebody in No. 229 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Panthers sat still while Cam Ward, the No. 7 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Panthers paired the rookies with proven help, Kayvon Thibodeaux leading the way. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Travis Hunter and all.
