Somebody in the Round 7 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Panthers sat still while Cody Simon, the No. 128 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They are betting Bryant proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
