Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA FutureD
The Panthers let Carter fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Barrett Carter at slot 222 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

Morrison has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick19 Rnd1 Harold Fannin Jr.
In pick No. 19 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the 47th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick71 Rnd3 Drew Allar
Drew Allar in the 71st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nicholas Singleton at No. 107 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jordan Hancock
A wild overpay on Jordan Hancock in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick140 Rnd5 Benjamin Morrison
A real head-scratcher, Benjamin Morrison in slot 140 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
They talked themselves into Kevin Winston Jr. at pick 147, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Pick162 Rnd5 Rod Moore
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Rod Moore well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick222 Rnd7 Barrett Carter
You do not let a linebacker like Barrett Carter reach the 222nd overall pick and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick233 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
The board fumbled Jonah Monheim all the way to slot 233, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick256 Rnd7 Micah Morris
Micah Morris at pick 256 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
