Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Quarterback settled, Milroe in the fold, and a B+ for the Panthers.

Start where it matters. The Panthers took Jalen Milroe to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. However the rest shakes out, Wells Jr. at that price is a win they earned. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Jalen Milroe
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a franchise quarterback, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jordan Burch
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Burch. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick68 Rnd3 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb in the 68th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick78 Rnd3 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in slot 78 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick83 Rnd3 Luke Kandra
No drama and no debate, Luke Kandra went about where he belonged in the 83rd overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at pick 104 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick114 Rnd4 Abdul Carter
A straight-up fair deal on Abdul Carter at pick No. 114, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Julian Fleming
By-the-book stuff, Julian Fleming at No. 124 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in pick 143 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Nothing to complain about; Cobee Bryant went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150 Rnd5 J.Michael Sturdivant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and J.Michael Sturdivant at No. 150 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick166 Rnd5 Tez Johnson
A tidy little value on Tez Johnson in Round 5, Pick 28, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick183 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Antwane Wells Jr. at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick212 Rnd6 PJ Williams
PJ Williams slipping to slot 212 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick221 Rnd7 Javontez Spraggins
Good price on Javontez Spraggins in the 221st pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick226 Rnd7 Germie Bernard
A reasonable price with a little left over, Germie Bernard in the 226th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
