Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall

FutureB-
The phones sank the Panthers this weekend: C+. Somebody took the Panthers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
The Anderson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.
The Hancock pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
No edge and no loss on Luther Burden III in pick No. 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick36
Rnd2
Emery Jones
A reasonable price with a little left over, Emery Jones in the 36th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick65
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in No. 65 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick97
Rnd4
Brant Kuithe
Nothing to complain about; Brant Kuithe went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick132
Rnd5
Jordan Hancock
Nice patience on Jordan Hancock, who had no business lasting to pick 132. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick133
Rnd5
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in Round 5, Pick 5 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick161
Rnd6
Akheem Mesidor
They took Akheem Mesidor at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick219
Rnd7
Raheem Anderson
Raheem Anderson at the 219th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
