Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Panthers lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

The Panthers put a flag in the ground for Gabe Hall, 37 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

On the needs board they went 3 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
A premium they did not need to pay, Chris Braswell a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 36 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick39 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in No. 39. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick65 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Sainristil at Round 3, Pick 1, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Cam Hart
A clean, defensible pick in pick 100 with a little surplus value in Cam Hart. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick140 Rnd5 Kalen King
They paid sticker price for Kalen King in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick141 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
They jumped the gun on Justin Eboigbe, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
They liked Khristian Boyd enough to skip the value, taking him in the 165th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick177 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
They talked themselves into Gabe Hall at Round 6, Pick 2, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
