A sensible, unshowy class lands the Panthers a B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Panthers did exactly that with Theo Johnson in pick No. 102. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The King pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
