Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Panthers.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Panthers walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Taylor III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at slot 33 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick65 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at the 65th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick102 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
A reach for Leonard Taylor III in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick165 Rnd5 Jaylen Wright
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. It fills a real need, too.
Pick180 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
The board had cheaper options than Michael Barrett at Round 6, Pick 5, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219 Rnd6 Josh Wallace
They took Josh Wallace at par in pick No. 219, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
