Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Panthers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Nobody else had Donell Harris Jr. anywhere near slot 222. The Panthers did, by 42 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 3 of 9 of the wish list covered. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
No edge and no loss on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the 33rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
They took Payton Wilson at par in pick No. 65, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick101 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
No drama and no debate, Khyree Jackson went about where he belonged in No. 101. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick169 Rnd5 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in slot 169 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick180 Rnd6 Braiden McGregor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Braiden McGregor. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick222 Rnd7 Donell Harris Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Donell Harris Jr. this early at pick 222. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
