FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Titans this weekend: B+. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Brandon Coleman at the 141st pick, a reach of 37 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Solomon pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, running back and other spots. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In No. 18 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick49
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in pick 49 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick107
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 107th pick on Javon Solomon with edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick141
Rnd5
Brandon Coleman
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brandon Coleman in pick No. 141, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick184
Rnd6
Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at slot 184 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
