Draft Grade — Ravens

More right than wrong for the Ravens, and a B to prove it.

Everything else got attention, and interior defensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the Ravens to leave a draft. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Gentry. If Baker pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The back end got a real overhaul.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick64 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
A straight-up fair deal on Jonathon Brooks at slot 64, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick95 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
By-the-book stuff, Zak Zinter at the 95th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 James Williams
They took James Williams at par in pick 132, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick134 Rnd4 Nehemiah Pritchett
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nehemiah Pritchett. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick169 Rnd5 Javon Baker
They paid up for Javon Baker at Round 5, Pick 33 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick253 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry is a better player than pick No. 253 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
