Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Packers: B-.

Of all the ways to open, the Packers chose the head-scratcher, spending Round 2, Pick 25 on Javon Bullard with quarterback, offensive lineman and other spots still wide open.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On value alone, Wilson makes the weekend a net positive. Allen has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kamren Kinchens
In slot 25 they get a downhill hitter at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin in slot 41 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick57 Rnd2 Javon Bullard
A surprising call. With quarterback, offensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 57 on Javon Bullard, a safety they were not short of.
Pick88 Rnd3 Junior Colson
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Junior Colson for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick92 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Johnny Wilson at the 92nd overall pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick125 Rnd4 Cam Hart
No edge and no loss on Cam Hart in Round 4, Pick 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick135 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A reach on Braelon Allen in No. 135; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
Fair-plus on Jared Wiley, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick217 Rnd6 J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver in the 217th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan at Round 6, Pick 44 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick246 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
They took Dwight McGlothern at par in the 246th pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
