FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Jones: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Trente Jones had no business being available in pick No. 245, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Byrd has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick35
Rnd2
Nate Wiggins
They read the board right and Nate Wiggins was the payoff at No. 35. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin in pick No. 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick58
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 26 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at the 71st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick91
Rnd3
Cedric Gray
Value said wait; Cedric Gray in slot 91 says they were not listening. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
A tidy bit of business in the 126th overall pick, where Elijah Jones graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
The board had cheaper options than Kitan Oladapo at pick 138, and it noticed. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick169
Rnd5
Dwight McGlothern
A slide stopped in pick 169, with Dwight McGlothern worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick186
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
They talked themselves into Nathaniel Watson at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick202
Rnd6
Evan Williams
They went early on Evan Williams in slot 202, and the value did not follow. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick219
Rnd6
Solomon Byrd
They reached a country mile for Solomon Byrd at the 219th pick, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Trente Jones
Trente Jones in pick No. 245 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jalen Sundell
The board had Jalen Sundell higher than the 255th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
