FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers. The war room fell hard for Matt Lee, and it showed at Round 6, Pick 27: 73 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Amegadjie pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
They read the board right and Byron Murphy II was the payoff at slot 25. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cooper DeJean in the 41st pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in pick 58 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick88
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
Circle this one: Kiran Amegadjie at Round 3, Pick 25 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick91
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick126
Rnd4
Will Shipley
The board fumbled Will Shipley all the way to No. 126, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick169
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Fair-plus on Marist Liufau, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick202
Rnd6
Matt Lee
They left a pile of value on the table to take Matt Lee this early at No. 202. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd6
Rasheen Ali
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Rasheen Ali. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick245
Rnd7
Tyler Owens
They paid up for Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 25 when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick255
Rnd7
Dallas Gant
Dallas Gant at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
