Nobody dealt better than the Packers this weekend: B. The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 4 slot regardless, 121 picks early.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Packers indulged a want in Ulofoshio while a need in edge rusher and interior defensive lineman stayed open.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Ladd McConkey
By-the-book stuff, Ladd McConkey at Round 1, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick58
Rnd2
Junior Colson
Junior Colson slid further than he should have, and the 58th pick is lovely value for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick66
Rnd3
Max Melton
Max Melton at the 66th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick88
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Cooper Beebe worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick91
Rnd3
Audric Estime
Audric Estime in slot 91 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick94
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in pick 94 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick111
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
Elijah Jones at the 111th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick123
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Roger Rosengarten. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick126
Rnd4
Dylan Laube
Dylan Laube at Round 4, Pick 26 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick129
Rnd4
Edefuan Ulofoshio
A want over a need in the Round 4 slot: Edefuan Ulofoshio adds a linebacker while edge rusher and interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
Pick134
Rnd4
Kitan Oladapo
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Kitan Oladapo at safety with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman open.
Pick137
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick at the 137th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick168
Rnd5
Myles Harden
A reach for Myles Harden in pick 168; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick201
Rnd6
Trey Taylor
A wild overpay on Trey Taylor in slot 201, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick219
Rnd6
Jalen Sundell
They reached into another round for Jalen Sundell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick228
Rnd7
Tip Reiman
Tip Reiman in the 228th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick238
Rnd7
Carson Steele
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Carson Steele well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick245
Rnd7
Hayden Hatten
Hayden Hatten in Round 7, Pick 25 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick255
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sam Hartman this early at pick 255. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
