Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Brady Cook in pick No. 240, a good 43 spots before the room expected him. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Thornton Jr.. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In slot 23 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at pick No. 54 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick87 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at the 87th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick148 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Kandra at pick 148, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
A premium they did not need to pay, Chase Lundt a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 22, where Dont'e Thornton Jr. graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick237 Rnd7 Davin Vann
A wild overpay on Davin Vann in the 237th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick240 Rnd7 Brady Cook
Brady Cook at slot 240 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick250 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
They took Cody Lindenberg at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
