Draft Grade — Packers
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB+
The Packers lost the trade table, and the D+ tells the story.

There is reaching, and then there is Payton Thorne at slot 237. The Packers jumped the board by 231 and dared it to prove them wrong. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the 16th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at pick No. 54 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick61 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at Round 2, Pick 29 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick86 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the 86th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick87 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chris Paul Jr. in slot 87. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick158 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant in No. 158 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick159 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
They paid sticker price for Tommi Hill in slot 159, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick198 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
They paid a round early for Joshua Gray in the 198th pick, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick237 Rnd7 Payton Thorne
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Payton Thorne well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick245 Rnd7 John Williams
John Williams at pick 245 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
Nice patience on Jermari Harris, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 34. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
