Pack a Day 1 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
The Packers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Packers spent real capital to be 76 picks early on Dallas Gant, and the board is going to hold them to it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McGlothern. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 25th pick they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Taliese Fuaga
They robbed the room for Taliese Fuaga here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 26. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick No. 88 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick91
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick126
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 126 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
They took Kamal Hadden at par in slot 169, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
They will replay Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 202 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick219
Rnd6
Tyler Owens
A big swing on Tyler Owens at the 219th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick245
Rnd7
Dallas Gant
Dallas Gant at No. 245 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick255
Rnd7
Frank Crum
A real head-scratcher, Frank Crum in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
