Pack a Day 1 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers. There is reaching, and then there is Trey Taylor at the 243rd overall pick. The Packers jumped the board by 54 and dared it to prove them wrong. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Getting Jenkins where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the 25th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan at pick 58 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick88
Rnd3
Kris Jenkins
Taking Kris Jenkins in pick No. 88 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick91
Rnd3
Audric Estime
They paid up for Audric Estime at slot 91 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
Value said wait; Tykee Smith in the 127th overall pick says they were not listening. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the safety. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick204
Rnd6
Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones at the 204th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick216
Rnd6
Rasheen Ali
A conviction pick on Rasheen Ali at the 216th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick243
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Taylor. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick251
Rnd7
Tarheeb Still
A real head-scratcher, Tarheeb Still in slot 251 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
