Draft Grade — Packers

The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Packers walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.

The Dike value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
A reach on Maxwell Hairston in slot 54; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87 Rnd3 Savion Williams
They took Savion Williams at par in the 87th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick124 Rnd4 Chimere Dike
They barely believed it either: Chimere Dike still on the board at pick 124. It fills a real need, too.
Pick159 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at the 159th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jay Toia
Jay Toia at pick No. 198 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick237 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
No drama and no debate, Isaac TeSlaa went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick250 Rnd7 John Williams
John Williams in No. 250 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
