Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers won the night they stopped Schwesinger from sliding. Grade: B.

The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Carson Schwesinger, the No. 87 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 165 like a gift left on the doorstep.

Wedig has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In the 23rd overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Nothing to complain about; Trey Amos went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at No. 89 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in pick No. 122 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick158 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick165 Rnd5 Carson Schwesinger
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Carson Schwesinger in pick 165, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Taking Jay Higgins in Round 6, Pick 21 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick237 Rnd7 Trey Wedig
Trey Wedig at slot 237 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick250 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the 250th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
