Shaggy DRAFTING FOR THELions
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Lions
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Lions kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The Lions spent real capital to be 59 picks early on Jalen Travis, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Getting Huzzie where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick60
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
A tidy bit of business in No. 60, where Marcus Mbow graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
This one needs a full-page explanation: Oluwafemi Oladejo in the Round 3 slot, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
Nothing to complain about; Cobee Bryant went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick196
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
A straight-up fair deal on Caleb Rogers at slot 196, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick228
Rnd7
Jalen Travis
A wild overpay on Jalen Travis in the 228th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick244
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 244 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
