FutureA
Nobody dealt better than the Jaguars this weekend: A-. The Jaguars ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
On value alone, Hairston makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman.
They are betting Turner proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Bottom line, with Jahdae Barron leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick70
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
They liked Shemar Turner enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 70. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Nice patience on Maxwell Hairston, who had no business lasting to pick 88. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Phillips at slot 107, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick126
Rnd4
Billy Bowman Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Billy Bowman Jr. at pick No. 126. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick142
Rnd5
Tyler Baron
They paid up for Tyler Baron at Round 5, Pick 4 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jaydon Blue
A tidy little value on Jaydon Blue in the 182nd overall pick, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
They read the board right and Jack Kiser was the payoff at the 194th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick221
Rnd7
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at No. 221 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
