FutureB-
The Packers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Packers spent real capital to be 70 picks early on Justin Walley, and the board is going to hold them to it. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They banked enough surplus on Bech to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 26th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
The board had cheaper options than Maxwell Hairston at slot 54, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jack Bech
Jack Bech in the 87th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick101
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in pick No. 101 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick127
Rnd4
Elijah Roberts
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Elijah Roberts. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick159
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson in No. 159 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick198
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
A straight-up fair deal on Caleb Rogers at Round 6, Pick 22, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick237
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
By-the-book stuff, Isaac TeSlaa at pick No. 237 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick250
Rnd7
Justin Walley
This one needs a full-page explanation: Justin Walley in No. 250, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
