You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Tim Smith at slot 251, roughly 59 spots before his name belonged.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Higgins. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
