Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB
The Packers robbed the room for Muhammad. Final grade: D-. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Packers did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Coogan has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The Muhammad steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 30th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick40
Rnd2
Brandon Cisse
Good price on Brandon Cisse in pick No. 40, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 20 with a little surplus value in Jake Slaughter. It fills a real need, too.
Pick84
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
The board had Domonique Orange higher than slot 84, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad in No. 94 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick120
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
A reach on CJ Daniels in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick158
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
A premium they did not need to pay, Pat Coogan a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick199
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
No drama and no debate, Trey Zuhn III went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick206
Rnd6
Fernando Carmona
They went early on Fernando Carmona in slot 206, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick236
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
Ethan O'Connor at No. 236 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jamari Lyons
Jamari Lyons at Round 7, Pick 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick257
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
They jumped the gun on Eric Gentry, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
