Draft Grade — Packers
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Packers to a D-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent slot 254 on Chad Lindberg, a name most had 77 spots down the list.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Jermod McCoy
In the 16th pick they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick52 Rnd2 Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II at Round 2, Pick 20 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick84 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange slipping to the 84th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick120 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at pick 120 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick158 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Drew Allar in No. 158, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick199 Rnd6 Diego Pavia
Fair-plus on Diego Pavia, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jordan White
Jordan White in the 206th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick236 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
They talked themselves into Eric Gentry at Round 7, Pick 20, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick254 Rnd7 Chad Lindberg
They left a pile of value on the table to take Chad Lindberg this early at the 254th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick257 Rnd7 Colbie Young
The board had Colbie Young higher than No. 257, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
