The phones sank the Packers this weekend: D-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent the 199th pick on Keyron Crawford, a name the board had a full 38 spots lower. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In No. 22 they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at pick 52 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick84
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at the 84th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick120
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
They paid sticker price for Keylan Rutledge in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick158
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
A clean, defensible pick in the 158th overall pick with a little surplus value in Davison Igbinosun. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick199
Rnd6
Keyron Crawford
Keyron Crawford at Round 6, Pick 20 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick236
Rnd7
PJ Williams
No drama and no debate, PJ Williams went about where he belonged in pick No. 236. It fills a real need, too.
Pick254
Rnd7
Ricardo Hallman
Ricardo Hallman in pick 254 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick257
Rnd7
Fred Davis II
They reached a country mile for Fred Davis II at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
