Draft Grade — Packers
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Packers this weekend: D-.

The Packers lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

Gulbin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in pick No. 39 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick43 Rnd2 Gennings Dunker
A reach on Gennings Dunker in slot 43; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick52 Rnd2 Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II at No. 52 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick84 Rnd3 Julian Neal
Nothing to complain about; Julian Neal went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick87 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. at Round 3, Pick 23 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick101 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jacob Rodriguez in the 101st pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick120 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis in the 120th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick140 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A straight-up fair deal on Drew Allar at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick158 Rnd5 Matt Gulbin
They reached a country mile for Matt Gulbin at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick199 Rnd6 Bobby Jamison-Travis
Bobby Jamison-Travis in the 199th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick236 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon in No. 236 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick254 Rnd7 Luke Altmyer
A slide stopped in the 254th overall pick, with Luke Altmyer worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick257 Rnd7 Nick Barrett
They paid sticker price for Nick Barrett in pick 257, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
