Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB FutureB
The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B.

It is a puzzling start. The Packers had edge rusher to solve and reached instead for James Williams, a safety, at Round 4, Pick 29.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Rosengarten that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II slid further than he should have, and pick 28 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick49 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 17 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at pick 58 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in the 88th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at No. 91, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99 Rnd3 Ray Davis
Ray Davis in pick No. 99 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick116 Rnd4 Renardo Green
Nothing to complain about; Renardo Green went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick127 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick129 Rnd4 James Williams
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, James Williams adds a safety and leaves edge rusher untouched.
Pick162 Rnd5 Roger Rosengarten
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 162, where Roger Rosengarten graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick168 Rnd5 Trevor Keegan
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trevor Keegan in Round 5, Pick 32. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini in the Round 6 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick216 Rnd6 Tyrice Knight
No drama and no debate, Tyrice Knight went about where he belonged in the 216th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick243 Rnd7 Austin Reed
Austin Reed slipping to slot 243 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick251 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 251st pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
