Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
The Commanders let Green fall into their laps, and walked away with a D+.

Somebody took the Commanders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

Every board in the league had Black lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Green pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick No. 7 they get a ballhawk on the back end at fair value. More want than need.
Pick65 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Lee Hunter worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick83 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
They will replay Germie Bernard at pick 83 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick104 Rnd4 Julian Neal
A reach for Julian Neal in No. 104; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick119 Rnd4 Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II at slot 119 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick147 Rnd5 Nate Boerkircher
They paid a round early for Nate Boerkircher in the 147th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick183 Rnd6 Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock in slot 183 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick187 Rnd6 VJ Payne
A reach on VJ Payne in pick 187; the board had better options right there. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick200 Rnd6 J'Mari Taylor
J'Mari Taylor in No. 200 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick209 Rnd6 Kaelon Black
They went early on Kaelon Black in the Round 6 slot, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick223 Rnd7 Taylen Green
The board fumbled Taylen Green all the way to Round 7, Pick 7, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
