Draft Grade — Cardinals

FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Daniels in the fold, and a D for the Cardinals. The Cardinals lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They are betting Jean-Baptiste proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Getting Carson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The Cardinals paired the rookies with proven help, Nathan Shepherd leading the way.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick6
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the 6th overall pick they get the face of the franchise. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In pick 27 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
No drama and no debate, T'Vondre Sweat went about where he belonged in No. 43. The roster fit checks out.
Pick45
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in slot 45 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick47
Rnd2
Jonathon Brooks
By-the-book stuff, Jonathon Brooks at the 47th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick66
Rnd3
Junior Colson
They let Junior Colson come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick71
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at pick No. 71 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick86
Rnd3
Max Melton
The board had Max Melton higher than slot 86, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick93
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at pick No. 93 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
They took Leonard Taylor III at par in Round 4, Pick 4, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109
Rnd4
Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson slid further than he should have, and No. 109 is lovely value for the cornerback. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick138
Rnd5
Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at the 138th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
They paid sticker price for Jaheim Bell in pick 162, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick165
Rnd5
Isaiah Davis
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Davis at the Round 5 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Grayson Murphy
A quiet steal in the 186th pick: Grayson Murphy for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick188
Rnd6
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick 188 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick196
Rnd6
Javontae Jean-Baptiste
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at No. 196 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
