Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Colts won the night they stopped James from sliding. Grade: B-.

When a board-topper like Jordan James slides to slot 115, you do not overthink it, and the Colts did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They will need Gray to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The back end got a real overhaul.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the 43rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79 Rnd3 Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland at slot 79 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick115 Rnd4 Jordan James
Jordan James at the 115th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Joshua Gray
A real head-scratcher, Joshua Gray in No. 149 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick188 Rnd6 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A reach on Ar'maj Reed-Adams in Round 6, Pick 13; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick227 Rnd7 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa in pick 227 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
