Ahk DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B-

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Desmond Evans at Round 6, Pick 40, a reach of 60 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Neyor. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the 31st overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kingsley Suamataia in the 63rd pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94
Rnd3
Tyler Davis
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Davis at No. 94, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick98
Rnd3
Jalen McMillan
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalen McMillan in slot 98. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick131
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Nice patience on Khyree Jackson, who had no business lasting to pick No. 131. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick177
Rnd6
Jaylin Simpson
They robbed the room for Jaylin Simpson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick209
Rnd6
Zion Logue
They reached a country mile for Zion Logue at pick No. 209, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at Round 6, Pick 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick215
Rnd6
Desmond Evans
A wild overpay on Desmond Evans in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick252
Rnd7
Isaiah Neyor
Somehow Isaiah Neyor was still sitting there in pick 252, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
